It was back to normal service today, with the reserves registering a 1-0 win over a young resilient Bracknell Town side.

The first half was mainly dictated by the defences as both sides were restricted to one chance each. The first fell to Bracknell in the 33rd minute when Mark Britt had to save well from a free kick, and Woods’ only chance came five minutes later when Lawrie Walters crossed and Jerome Cole headed over.

The second period saw the Woods get the better of the exchanges and within six minutes of the restart, Max Duffy played a good ball out of his own penalty area, then ran the length of the field to get on the end of a pass from Lawrie Walters, only to see his effort go the wrong side of the upright.

Bracknell came straight back at the Woods, and a last ditch tackle by Richard Vercesi stopped Nicholas from taking the lead.

Northwood then brought on Sam Holland for a tiring Paul Element, and within two minutes of the change they got the all important goal, as Lawrie Walters fired home after the Bracknell goalie couldn’t hold a shot from Jon Daily.

Bracknell had a couple of chances to take a share of the points when first Thorn drove over when well placed, and then when Nicholas did likewise eight minutes from time.

Max Duffy then drove a shot wide after the goalkeeper had sent his clearance back to him. All in all, a good game played in a very sporting spirit, with a good referee in charge.

Man of the Match: Max Moore.
